Artist Statement
Vision is a state of mind.
My photography doesn't follow a particular style or theme, though often I photograph the patterns I see in everyday life. My interest with photography began as a teen with my parent's Kodak Duaflex II point & shoot film camera. In my early twenties I graduated into a my first 35mm & learned to do basic darkroom techniques. Today with the convenience of digital photography, which I now exclusively shoot, helps enormously in determining how I approach creating the final print. Converting my shots into black & white, is a favorite nostalgic throwback for me, & is the method I use when creating many of my images. Other times I may rely on manipulating an image to enhance the result. Some people may feel that one must be a purist when taking photographs, but I consider myself primarily an artist using photography as one of the tools at my disposal to better express my vision.
What is most important for me is when people express pleasure when they see the results of my work, then I've achieved my goals as an artist.
