REIMAGINED: A MODERN APPROACH TO TRADITIONAL ART
Artist Statement:
My work often begins with a photograph and the story behind it—a person deeply loved, a memorable place, or a moment someone wants to hold onto a little longer. The photograph is a starting point, but never the end point. It becomes the foundation for a painting shaped by interpretation, emotion, and the meaning carried within the image. Whether creating a commissioned portrait, a self-portrait, or a landscape inspired by travels through Maine, Cuba, or Morocco, I am interested in creating work that feels not only visually true, but deeply meaningful.
I think of my process as a modern approach to a traditional art form. Using painting software as my medium, I build each piece through layers of digital brushwork before transferring the image to canvas and often hand-finishing with texture, oils, or cold wax. The process allows for both precision and painterly expression—creating work that feels rooted in authenticity while moving beyond simple documentation. My goal is always to create something that feels personal, honest, and deeply human.
