Sticks & Stones:  The Sculptural Landscape

The Programs and Education Committee will host landscape architect and artist Cate Oranchak, MLA, for a single lecture "Sticks and Stones, The Sculptural Landscape."  A reception will follow.  Ms. Oranchak will share with the audience beautiful images from her extensive work in landscape design from residential-scale gardens to large-scale urban, waterfront and civic projects.  This award-winning professional will define ways to manipulate the landscape as both sculpture and art to create meaningful and useful outdoor spaces.  Drawing from examples of work both large and small, this program will be inspirational to the weekend gardener and the seasoned professional.

Focusing on the elements of landscape design, Oranchak will discuss and provide examples of innovative ways to combine earth, water and plant material to create desired effects.  Demonstrating ways sticks and stones can transform the landscape; she will also show how color form and texture in plant material are powerful tools for creating impactful design.
