The Salem Arts Association will present the
North Shore’s own PHAT MAXX on Saturday, August 9 at 1 p.m. on the
Front Street side of
Salem’s
Derby Square. The concert will complement the Salem Arts Association’s weekend exhibit in
Old Town Hall entitled “Freeze Frame: Shake, Rattle and Roll,” a collection of local music performance photography by
Salem’s Tom Uellner.
PHAT MAXX gets a huge sound out of guitar, bass and drums. Consisting of Thad Bernard on bass and lead vocals, Pete Wostrel on guitar, and Eric Brown on drums, the trio is firmly rooted in rock and roll which allows them the pleasure of branching out from time to time into other styles.
Their collective credits include stints with Ric Ocasek and the Cars, Kool and the Gang, James Brown, Modern English, Feat of Clay, Hush, Trower, James Montgomery, and The Coasters.
In addition to original music, you may hear covers by Hendrix, The Beatles, David Bowie, Chris Isaak, Prince, and The Cars, among others.
